Shopping

I have finished school this semester. Get to have a break from classes until January 8. I guess the Christmas Tree will be put up and decorated this weekend.

Someone ran into the back of the Amigo yesterday morning. Bret was driving and luckily he did not get hurt.

We went shopping for presents today, and I have to say it is totally busy everywhere. Way to many people on this island. Well we are going to go back out to shop some more, hopefully some people have gone home, so they will not be getting in our way.

Almost There

It is getting colder here. The temp is running about 82-83 during the day, and right around 70 at night. What is it like it at your end of the world?

Only this week plus one more until this semester ends. I am totally happy about that. Next week will be hard because I will have a test in English, a test in Biology and a final in Speech. It will be sooo nice to get a break. Well gotta go practice the speech I gotta give tomorrow night.

Arrrgggg!!!!!

Someday, perhaps I will get a little bit organized. I have an English class at 5 pm, and a 6 page paper due. That means I have just over 5 hours to write the darn thing. Plus I still have to correct the paper from last week.

The wireless router crapped out this morning, so now we only have 1 computer hooked up to the net. On top of that the monitor is messed up; it has several lines running down it. Damn, how am I supposed to print the damn paper out from the laptop, now that there is no router?

Well I guess I need to start hitting the coffee. I hope at least it will be able to wake me up, and keep me up. If I wasn’t so sleepy, I would be totally stressed.

Friday

I hope you all had a good turkey day yesterday. We did, and ate way too much. All we did was eat, and watch movies.

I guess this hole entire weekend I will be stuck studying. I got a research paper I have to turn in Monday, and I don’t even know what I am going to write about.

Happy Birthday Sis

Happy Birthday to Otty my OLD sister. She has now turned 48, wow. She is gaining 3 grandchildren in the springtime. Good luck with all that.

Well I did not flunk on the Speech test. My score was 80 out of a 100, so I think I got a B. Only 4 more classes left!!!

Cheyenne is still not feeling well. I took her to the doctors today to see if they could do something for her. The doc did a strep test, should be back Monday. Other than that she just has to chill, and drink some water.

Yada Yada Yada

I just cannot seem to get things right in Speech. When I sat down to do some editing on the Speech that is due tomorrow night I realized that I had saved over the file. So now I am going to have to rewrite the darn thing. Will find out how I did on the disaster test last week tomorrow night, cross your fingers for me!

Cheyenne got stung by a bee today at school. Good news, she is not allergic to bee stings. She is however not feeling well this evening. Poor baby just puked all over the place. Hopefully she will be feeling better tomorrow.

Disaster

Last night there was a midterm test in Speech. That was the worst test I have ever taken in my life! I am going to be lucky if I get a D on it, that’s how bad it was. I left two questions unanswered because I had no clue what-so-ever what I should to put down for an answer. It was not the typical multiple choice test, but a mixed test.

Haircut

Bret had a father-daughter day with Cheyenne on Sunday. He took her to the beauty saloon where she got her hair cut. She actually wanted the “grass on the roof” haircut, I am not sure exactly what kind of a haircut that is, could not find it on the net either. I think that she might have been wanted a choppy haircut, where the ends are uneven. The hairdresser had no idea what a choppy haircut was, hmm… Perhaps she should go find herself a new job or perhaps taking an English class would help her.

Anyways Cheyenne’s hair is shoulder length now. I put before and after pictures in the photo album if you want to see how she looks. She is very happy with her hair, even though it is not the “grass on the roof” cut, which I think there is a big possibility she made up.

I have got to study for the midterm test in speech that we are having on Wednesday. I also have to write a speech in a MLA format, I am not sure if I remember exactly how to do that. It could possibly prove to be a problem if I do not. But to look at the bright side I will not have to figure out what to do tomorrow. Study, study, and then study some more. I think I might possibly have a test in biology on Friday, hope I do not. I just do not like test that much, actually I do not like them at all.

At least English class is not that hard. All I have to do is write papers, and try to figure out punctuation. No major tests there, life is good like that sometimes.

There is no school here tomorrow, because of Election Day. Most other people are stuck at work though.

Rain

Last night I had to do a speech at class. I was a total nerve-wreck. I will be so relieved when that class is over. We have a mid-term test in it on Wednesday. I have to study a lot for it. Tomorrow night I have a test in Biology, not fun.

It rained so much here today. It was pouring out of the sky by the buckets. Thanks to my little girls I did not have an umbrella to keep me dry; they seem to think that umbrellas are toys for them to play with.

Cheyenne had a fieldtrip to the Polynesian Culture center today, and Gipsy had a fieldtrip to the Honolulu Symphony. They both had lots of fun. Gipsy was a little bit disappointed because they had to go back to school early. The plan had been that they would eat lunch at a park, but that got cancelled because of the rain.

There are new photos on the photo album. Look at the Halloween Photos

Happy Halloween

We went out trick or treating. The girls got a bunch of candy, it should last them for a long time. We had lots of fun.

Earthquake

Sunday was an interesting day from the start. I and Cheyenne were lying on the couch watching television when the couch started to shake. I looked at Chey and asked, “Why is the couch shaking?” She just kept watching her show, shrugged her shoulders and said, “I don’t know.” Then it dawned on me, an earthquake that’s what all the shaking was about. I urgently pushed on Cheyenne, “Get up, get up!” I grabbed her hand and pulled her to the doorway, and I called Gipsy over to us.

After the ground calmed down I went upstairs to wake Bret up, but he was awake already. “That was cool, did you feel it?” He asked me with a big grin on his face. A minute later the whole house was shaking again. Then we lost power and it was gone all morning, all day and a part of the evening.

Luckily no one was seriously injured or killed during or after the earthquake. I guess the main worry here in Hawaii was tsunami. We did not get one of those so our feet are dry, well except for the rain we have been having. Today is sunny so no more rain either.

Meow

Sweet Lightning (the cat) is home, all skinny, and her fur was crawling with nasty flees. I put something flee killing stuff on her I hope it works. Death to all flees! Princess was so happy to see Lightning and jumped on her as soon as she noticed her being home. The cat might be getting pissed at us again because we have not let her outside since she came back home.

I have had my first week of school, and now my brain hurts. English should not be too hard, but Speech I am going to hate for sure, Biology grrr! I think the teacher might have been talking in Chinese because I was totally lost. Most of the class was spent on chemistry, dang chemistry is complicated. I am not looking forwards to having to take an actual class in it.

Cheyenne

Cheyenne and the Black Widow

Cheyenne bugged us to take her to see the Black Widow play pool last night. She really enjoyed the show a lot and she took a whole bunch of pictures. Perhaps that was the fun part for her to take pictures. I did forget my camera so she used my phone which did not take very good pictures.

Bret won an autographed pool ball which he gave to Cheyenne, she also got an autographed picture.

I have signed up for classes again. This semester I will be taking Speech, Biology and English. I am stressed already. Not particularly fond of school, but at least it is pretty easy here. I hope I did not just jinx myself.

Darkness

The power went off the base last night and it is still not on yet. The girls were so disappointed to find out they still had to go to school this morning. They can not complain too much though, because they are off school all next week and a part of the one after that. Then there will be a couple of weeks of parent teacher conferences so they will have an early release from school, out at about twelve thirty during that time.

The cat is still missing, Cheyenne is so sad. I hope it comes home soon.

It is totally boring not having power. Can not turn the radio on, nor have my wake up cup of coffee. Well I guess I will just take a nap until it is time to go back to work. I am sure I will wake up if the power comes back on.

It is back on!!! It is good to be out of the darkness or so to speak.

Pási

Cheyenne and Pási

We went to the mall last night. We ate there and we played a game of Glow Putt Mini Golf. Bret was the winner, the rest us were not first so we were last. Losers!

We went into the pet store where Bret saw them big Macaw (or what ever they are called) a big bird and he really, really wanted it. He did not get it though. Them big birds are a lifetime commitment and usually they outlive their owners.

Gipsy on the other hand got a little baby parakeet, it is green and we are hoping it is a male. Females tend to be kind of mean and they have a harder time learning to talk.

The little bird got the name Pási, he is named after a parakeet my parents used to have. Although when Gipsy was little she would follow it around, point at it and say voff, voff so Pási temporarily got the name little doggie.

Sweet Lightning the cat is really interested in Pási, I think it makes her hungry to look at it. Lady is not really all that impressed by it at all and moves away from it, but Princess is dying to play with it. Do not think the bird is up to playing with either the dog or the cat. Perhaps in a couple of months Pási might be trying to teach them some manners.

We went to the flee marked this morning and walked around looking at things for about two hours. I got a blister on my little toe, that sucked.

I am getting so really hungry and my head hurts like hell. Perhaps my honey will make me something to eat. He is such a good cook.

Kaunala Loop

Waiting on DaddyStanding on a fallen tree
Bret and Cheyenne
Cheyenne and a friend on a pine needle hill

Kaunala Loop

We hiked Kaunala Loop trail on Sunday. It was pretty hard on all of us. Cheyenne started to cry and she demanded to turn around and go back home. There was a lot of climbing up on that trail, and it was hot and humid outside. Cheyenne fell down, Gipsy fell down and Bret also fell down, he actually did the splits, outch!!!

We discovered the softest trees ever on this hike. Those trees had a really soft bark. It felt weird touching soft trees. Gipsy told me that those trees are called paper trees, seems logical. It almost seemed like you would not need an ax to chop down a paper tree but just lots of bark peeling patience.

Joshua just turned 18 on Saturday, congratz on being a grownup. Gipsy is pretty upset about Joshua being 18; she does not want him to be an adult. Do not ask me why, because I am clueless.

I have been trying to put in pictures from the hike but I have not been able to. Will try again later.

Supernova Fu**ed up big!

I am totally shocked! I have just found out who won Supernova Rockstar. Lucas won, UNBELIEVABLE. He always looks like he tripped and fell into a makeup jar. He jerks around on stage like he is having seizures when he performs, well if you can call what he does performing. Lucas is so busy mumbling when he is supposed to be singing that it is hard to understand half of what comes out of his mouth.

Wednesday

Today I am paying for the hike we went on Monday. My shins, calves, and thighs are in serious pain. Hopefully I will be fully recuperated by this weekend when we go on yet another hike somewhere.

The girls should have Tae Kwon Do this evening so I and Bret will study for our very last psychology test. Yeah! Last psychology class tomorrow night!

We are thinking about investing in a Honda minivan.

I just put some pictures into the photo album. They are actually still uploading when I am writing this so check in a little bit if you do not see any new ones yet.

Slide Show

Movies

Last night we took the girls to go see John Tucker must die. It was actually pretty good, a lot better than we had assumed it would be. The girlies thought it was a wonderful movie and would like to own a copy of it.

Dog!

I have a little puppy named Princess. This morning she went upstairs, she is not allowed to go there. I went up to get her and I discovered that she had found herself a yummy chocolate snack from Sweet Lightning’s Kitty Cat litter box. Gross!

I think I will not be accepting no puppy kisses any time soon.

Well it is time to take the girls to Tae Kwon Do and Supernova comes on a little later this evening. Everyone vote for Magni!!!

sunnudagur, ágúst 27, 2006

Toe

We did not go hiking this past weekend due to injuries that occurred at a BBQ at the beach. Did you know that BBQ’s can be really dangerous events, this is what happened: My husband hurt himself when he was rescuing a beach chair that fell over on top of the BBQ grill. The chair then of course caught on fire and started to burn.

Bret’s toe happened to get burned during the dangerous event of pulling the burning chair of the grill, putting out the fire and rescuing the day.

The following day we went hiking and it resulted in my hubby getting an infected toe. He went to the doctors and now he is getting all better so we can hike again next weekend.

Last night Bret, I and Cheyenne all went down town Waikiki to eat dinner. We spend about two perhaps three hours walking and trying to decide where to eat. We finally decided on the Cheese Cake Factory, the food there was pretty good. Although Chey got sick in the middle of the night and we had to get up to clean up puke. Yuck!

Maunawili Falls

I am watching the kids do Tae Kwon Do and I am also studying for a psychology test I am going to take tomorrow night. I am hoping my laptop does not run out of batteries, I have had a warning come up once but I have nowhere to plug into electricity.

Right after the girls marshal arts class we are going to rush home to watch Supernova, Rockstar. And we are all cheering for Magni, because he is Icelandic and because he is really good. I do cheat and get the final results from http://www.mbl.is/ (Icelandic Newspaper) before I even watch the show. Lucky me, I know Icelandic.

We are still doing really good at hiking. Last Sunday we picked a good hike, it lead to the Maunawili Falls. We all attempted to keep our feet dry as we had to cross a small river three times. It was a total waste of time because we got to a point where the path was basically the river and there was no way to stay dry there.

The waterfall was pretty cool, there were a lot of people jumping into the water, some even climbed way up high and jumped in. I on the other hand watched from a safe distance and took some pictures.

Bret got injured on the way back he tripped and sort of fell into the river. He managed to bump and injure his elbow quite nicely on a big rock. His wound bled a bunch and it looked really gross with a flap of skin that almost came off.

Birthday Pictures

Last night I finally took the girls to see the 2nd Pirates of the Caribbean. It was awesome, go see it if you didn’t already. The only complaint was that the girls had to use the bathroom a lot during the movie, but that is what happens when you refill your soda over and over again.

Last Saturday Cheyenne celebrated her 8th birthday. We took her to Lil Miss Trend-E for a little pampering. She got her hair, make up and nails done, then she got to pick out a costume and have her picture taken.

From there we headed over to the Bishop Museum where they had Grossology on display. Grossology is of course gross, and it basically explains bodily functions, like buggers, sneezes, farts and so on and so forth. The girls thought it was totally cool.

Sunday we went hiking again and this time I picked the trail. And was I ever unpopular that day, I tell you them kids were just complaining a lot. Well we had to walk pretty much uphill in the mud and the rain for over an hour. The way down was not as bad because it was drier on the other side and it was mostly downhill.

Trying not to fall

Angel, John and Gipsy

This weekend we went hiking. My body is aching all over. The trail we followed was four and a half miles long. It was pretty rough, tree roots were all over the place and occasionally there was a tree or two we had to climb over making it easy to trip.

I was a little nervous because Cheyenne really liked running on the trail. If someone were to fall, they would keep falling for a long time, and because we were up pretty high, there would be no stopping until they reached the bottom or hit a tree.

This hiking ordeal took us three hours. The kids got a little worried towards the end that we were lost, and would not make it home ever. Needless to say they were totally wrong.

I took the girls to the dentist this morning, no cavities. Gipsy does have to go one more time though, but only to get sealant on two of her molars.

Happy Birthday Linda.
